Bino and Bill Walker Rumored To Be 2 of Turgeon’s 3 Assistants

Bino pictured here (a Sunpapers shot) seems to be in. Hopefully this will lead to a quick turnaround on the Faust decision. Andy Katz reported last night that Turgeon will bring his assitant with him from A&M. His is part of his bio:

Veteran college basketball coach Bill Walker is in his third year as an assistant coach at Texas A&M after serving as senior athletic assistant in 2007-08. “I’ve watched Bill’s career blossom and grow,” A&M coach Mark Turgeon said. “He has been around the block and is a great assistant because he is always looking for ways to make your job easier. He is involved in a lot of aspects of our program and his opinion is highly respected because he has done so much in his career.” As an assistant at Minnesota from 1998-07, Walker was responsible for recruiting Big Ten Freshman of the Year Kris Humphries, who was a first-round lottery pick by the Utah Jazz in 2005. He also recruited 2005 first-team All-Big Ten performer Vincent Grier and the 2001 recruiting class that included 2002 Big Ten Freshman of the Year Rick Rickert. That class was ranked among the top 10 in the nation by many publications.

Losing Ehsan is a mistake. I guess when we hear about how respected guys are, that is sometimes blown out of proportion.
Cuz if Ehsan is so respected, and Turgeon is so respected, then why not get them together?
Turgeon must not respect Ehsan as much as some.

It’s gonna be a long year. If they can land Faust back, which knowing the way things have gone for MD the last 6-7 years, I won’t hold my breath, but at least that gives them a shooter, which they didn’t have last year.

From what I am reading, Cleare is going somewhere else. I hope Anderson stays, but I’m not convinced that’s gonna happen either.

IDK. Maybe I just let what’s happened to us shape my outlook.

highly unlikely a new coach who has has had success everywhere he has been would take two coaches from a mediocre program. keeping bino makes sense because of his balt. aau connections plus bino is tight with the harrison’s twins father who is the aau coach for cleare and his kids. considering cleare was between md and a & m before the coaching change i would think with bino staying he’ll sign with maryland. fans get caught up with the assistants and the reality is the coach is the main guy and turgeon is a proven winner. justin anderson will come to md. though next yr i expect md’s b ball program to to back in the top 25 in a couple of yrs. this coach is going to be very good. heck he’s already reaching out to aau coaches something the last coach never did. and if you want the blue chippers you have to court aau coaches. the future is bright for the terps.

so in this case….ryan..no soup for you!
