Denny McCarthy, from Argyle Country Club, shattered individual records and led Maryland to a third successive victory in the annual Mid-Atlantic Junior Invitation tournament held at Woodholme Country Club in suburban Baltimore, July 23-24. The Rockville resident, 18, posted rounds of 68-66 for a 36-hole total of 8-under-par 134. The previous individual marks were 68 by Sean Bosdosh in 2010, and 141 by Colin St. Maxens in the inaugural event in 2009. The 66 is thought to be a competitive course record at Woodholme.
