BLOG FROM MARYLAND JUNIOR MAX GROSSFELD
In his debut with the Chesapeake Bayhawks, playing against his former team, John Grant Jr. was excellent. He had seven points, including five goals and two assists. After being traded to the Long Island Lizards from the Nationals, Grant was released and subsequently picked up by the Bayhawks. Midfielder Michael Kimmel played excellently as well, scoring a game-high eight points. He had 6 goals, including a two pointer, and an assist. The game was never close as the Bayhawks lead 6-0 after the first quarter.
Newly acquired Nicky Polanco played a solid defensive game with Brian Spallina, his old teammate from Long Island, holding the Nationals to 7-for-32 shooting. Kip Turnerstarted helped the cause from the goalie position with eight saves. “Obviously, it was a great day for the Bayhawks. That is about as well as we have ever played,” said Dave Cottle, Chesapeake Bayhawk’s head coach. “Our guys started fast and finished strong.”
