For what It’s worth–Ernie–It’s Henson or Terrence Ross with the First Pick

My limitations in selecting in the draft are that I have not seen everyone at length. This I know about John henson–he’s not Anthony Davis but he is an excellent shot blocker. Obviously, he needs to out on some muscle but he has 3 solid years of experience an at least you know what you are getting. Here is NBS draft.net analysis.

After 2 seasons being an impact player for UNC with his length and athleticism, Henson declared after improving steadily each season he was in college…He is a great shot-blocker and rebounder, who can get you easy buckets off garbage plays too…His strength will always be a question, and his unorthodox style of play offensively surely needs polish…But a team looking for a shot-blocking presence who provides energy and doesn’t get in the way offensively will look at Henson…Still has upside despite spending 3 seasons in college…

As for Ross, the first time I saw him at Montrose, I was amazed. he has the entire game. He is Melo-like. If he had played at Maryland or any East Coast school everyone would be more familiar. It’s funny that everyone thought his buddy Terrence Jones (Kentucky) was the sure fired star but Ross is projected higher. The day he withdrew his commitment to Maryland, I was sick and Stu Vetter was shocked. Two months later he left Montrose during the school year. So there is a mystery. But no mystery as for his basketball acumen. I would take a chance. Somebody will for sure.

Good athlete with a very natural shooting ability … Smooth leaper that can get off the ground quickly, whether he’s elevating for a jump shot or finishing in transition … Quick first step … Easy target for lob passes … Understands how to move without the ball … Always a threat to cut backdoor … Very creative in finding ways to finish around the hoop, often using the rim to protect the ball from defenders … Excellent hang-time and body control … Not afraid to dunk over the top of players … Good frame that should be able to hold a good amount of muscle … Measured 6’7″, which gives him ideal size for a shooting guard … Has a solid (though unadvanced) ball-handling ability … Prefers just one or two quick dribbles to create enough separation from his defender to get off a quality shot … Does most of his damage on the perimeter … Great-looking jumper, with a quick release and smooth mechanics … Confident shooter that displays no hesitation when firing … Likes to camp near the corners and let his teammates set him up … Already has range out to the NBA three-point line … Is a natural catch-and-shoot player … Often seems unfazed by defenders who are closing-out on him when he is shooting … Shows a willingness to compete on the glass, especially on put-back opportunities … Has the length and lateral quickness to be an effective defender … Unselfish player that doesn’t need to dominate the basketball to be an effective teammate …

i think the zards should trade out of their 3rd pick but if they keep it i as well like ross or harrison barnes. the wiz need some outside shooting from the wing and both ross and barns can shoot it from the 3 point line. hensen is a project and a bad team picking third need to get someone who can step in and play and be productive.
