Tonight let’s quickly look at the Men’s Title game. The Shockers figured out how to stop the dribble penetration of Silva and Smith—from espn.com-
–“Wichita State cracked the code. They played under every screen. They over-sank into the lane, building a defensive stronghold from the inside out. They rebounded well, preventing second chances and tip-returns to the perimeter, where they’d be stuck scrambling to close out in odd-man situations. And they basically begged Louisville to shoot. For most of the game, particularly in the first half, this worked perfectly: Siva and Smith probed and probed and couldn’t crack the Shockers’ shell, and so the Cardinals were forced to settle for one bad shot after another.”
So how will Pitino react–transition attack whether it’s 1 on 2 or whatever. Look for an extremely fast paced game.
What will Louisville do to stop Michigan—push out the defense and stop Michigan’s 3 point shooting. And here’s an easy solution–when Mitch McGary has the ball inside just plain foul him. Mitch has gone from an 8 minute a game player to a potential lottery pick in 3 weeks. BUT and this is a big point–he has Chamberlain type skills from the foul line. He missed 3 critical foul shots down the wire against Cuse and had to be taken out of the game to avoid a hack a Shaq type defense.
Final score—Louisville 73 Michigan 66
Bruce – this is the “Raise the Steaks” game for you and me. We are locked into the TerpTalk tournament bracket winner take all game.
If you win tonight with Louisville, you get a trip to the Palm Steakhouse in DC. If it is my pick, Michigan, then we are heading out to Morton’s in Baltimore.
At the least, it is rare that in a tournament bracket contest that after all is said and done, the we picked the two contenders for the championship.
freddy from boca
wayne, if you win i would suggest tio pepe’s or the prime rib. you can go to mortons’s anywhere in the country.
Good point, lets see how Michigan does. Both you and I have the Wolverines. Maybe tio pepe’s is the choice.
