The Caps are really picking it up down the stretch. They are in the playoffs at the moment as the 3 seed because of their lead atop the Southeast division.
If they keep up the lead in the division, of course the Caps are in the playoffs. However, the recent win streak has also put them into contention for the last at-large bid as the 8 seed. So if somehow the Caps don;t win the SE division, they could still make it as the 8.
