Yes I was beginning to worry. Where was the magic? Would Ryan Flaherty ever get a hit? Would the O’s get a clutch hit? All there worries were wiped out when Manny Machado went deep for a 3 run dinger and finalize a great Oriole comeback win over Boston. After 820 consecutive sellouts at Fenway, game 2 of the 3 game set against the O’s was 7000 short of a sellout. So be it.
The 2nd highlight of the night for me was the power pitching effort of closer Jim Johnson.
Listening to the pregame show 3 facts impressed me:
—Ryan Dempster “pitches backwards” according to Buck. This means you never know what pitch is next. The O’s starting lineup had a .176 BA lifetime against Dempster. ( I quizzed Freddy on this and he knew what it meant—well done).
—-The O’s starting lineup had a .176 BA lifetime against Dempster.
—The Bosox starting lineup had a .450 BA lifetime against Jake Arietta.

i know it’s early in the season but that was a big win last night. stopped a losing streak, manny hasn’t been hitting real well so it helps him and his confidence. same with flahtery. jake piched pretty well. tough to pitch in the rain. your cleats get full of mud and you slip and slide on the mound. mclouth didn’t help him turning a single into a triple by nate got a big walk in the 9th. now it’s tillman tonight and hopefully he can get us in the win column.
