Terps (2-7) Out Manned As they Fall to Iowa 31-15

Turnovers once again were the undoing of Maryland. It’s one step of the ladder that Maryland can’t climb.

An early fumble by Brandon Ross turned the tide of the game as Maryland would trail 21-0 before making a mild rally.

Junior William Likely returned a kickoff 100 yards for a score in the fourth quarter, but the Maryland football team fell, 31-15, to No. 10 Iowa at Kinnick Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Maryland quarterback Perry Hills ran for 104 yards on 19 carries, his third straight contest with at least 100 yards on the ground. The junior also tossed a touchdown pass.

Maryland got within 21-7 early in the fourth quarter on a 7-yard TD pass from Hills to Taivon Jacobs.

Marshall Koehn’s 49-yard field goal pushed Iowa’s cushion back to 17 with 11 minutes left. The Terps quickly drove deep into Iowa territory, but the Terrapin drive stalled.

Likely took the subsequent kickoff back for a score, and the Terps tacked on a two-point conversion to make it a two-score game, but Iowa was able to run out the clock.

Junior Yannick Ngakoue recorded 1.5 sacks to improve his season total to 10.5. Junior Quinton Jefferson tied his career high with 3.0 TFL.

Maryland takes on Wisconsin next Saturday for its annual Homecoming game. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
