What bothers me about tonight’s loss:
Melo’s shooting slump continues—1-14 from the field
Referee DJ Carstensen refuses to call fouls on Trimbles drives
Jared Nickens has vanished from the offense
Brantley had to spell Nickens and played a very good game
Diamond had but 1 rebound and a terrible technical foul
Another weak start for the Terps
Just when there was #1 seed talk–we lose a home game by 13
Positive feelings after the loss
Its only 1 loss in a 22-4 season so far
Rasheed’s aggressive play kept us in the game
Full court press looked pretty good
Great crowd –great flash mob dance
Probably have to win out to secure Big Regular season title

even good teams lose but they way they lost was disturbing. after being down 7-2 the terps ran off 12 points and then didn’t score a basket in 15 min. no ball movement, sloppy play and not one adjustment made by the coaches. they were listless, not engaged, lazy on defense and played soft.
they played hard for 15 minutes in the second half. they cut a 16 pt badger lead to 7 and had the chance to cut the lead to 4 but missed 2 3 pt shots. and that was it. they spit out the bit and the game was over.
the refs didn’t cost the terps the game. melo flat out stunk. sad commentary when you blame the refs in a home game. i thought that was something you do in road games. i think he has some injuries problems though i did read from some one a different theory on his declining play. too many people whispering in his ear about the nba. i don’t buy that but you never know with kids.
not sure what you mean by terrible technical on stone. if you think it was a terrible play by stone you are correct. if you think it was a bad call you are incorrect. he’s lucky he didn’t get tossed from the game.
nickens needs to catch and shoot. in order for that to happen the team needs to move ball quickly and make the extra pass. they rarely do that. but nonetheless nickens has lost the feel. but a better passing team would help his cause.
the half court offense is more like a half ass offense. other than a pick roll here and there, there isn’t much. again little ball movement and even rarer the extra pass.
you have big men who can pass yet you seldom if ever see plays run inside out where you get the ball inside…get the defense to collapse and kick it out to an open man or have a cuter come down the lane. as far as i’m concerned that is coaching. like wise with all the turnovers. lack of discipline. that’s coaching. this team has too much talent to play like they did yesterday and for many parts of games this season.
they are 22-4 which you could say may be a deceiving 22-4. they could be 17-9. but thankfully they are 22-4.
no clear cut team in college ball but now is the time to start playing hard for 40 minutes. now is the time to play to your potential. now is the time to play smart, unselfish and discipline.
again it’s ok to lose but not the way they lost yesterday. wisconsin is on a good roll but it’s 50-50 they even make the tournament. md wasn’t playing kansas yesterday. and they were playing at home. you can’t play hard for 15 min out of 40 and expect to win.
this team has the talent to go very deep in the tournament.
