The Ohio State women lost a thriller at Minnesota last night. Combine this with Iowa’s loss to Wisconsin on the men’s side and the math becomes simple. If the men complete the tall task of winning their last three games (including at Purdue and at Indiana) and the women complete the somewhat less challenging task of winning at home against Wisconsin (tonight) and Minnesota Sunday they both become no worse than B1G co-champions.

Three men’s wins would also secure the top seed in the B1G Tournament. The women would likely be the two seed unless Ohio State surprisingly stumbles again Saturday when they close their season at Michigan State.

I’ll also throw in the notion that if you want to see perhaps the most dynamic offensive player in basketball – certainly on the women’s side – you should come to the MD – MN game Sunday to see 5’9″ guard Rachel Banham. Banham scored 35 last night and has averaged over 40 per game over the last six games. She’s the all time leading scorer in the B1G and is 44 points shy of becoming the 11th player to go over 3,000 points in her career. As Kobe Bryant said about her, “She can play.”
