Taylor Cummings is amazing but a small correction: She had 7 draw controls against Northwestern. You forgot to add her 6 ground balls and 4 caused turnovers. Here are her cumulative stats for the last three games:
12 goals; 2 assists; 24 draw controls; 13 ground balls; 11 caused turnovers. To provide some perspective, here’s how many players have better numbers for the 9 games of the season than Cummings has in these three games: Goals – 3; Ground Balls – 2; Draws and Caused Turnovers – 0
But once again, Maryland’s defense was incredibly good. Northwestern isn’t the most potent offensive team in the NCAA but the Terps held them to four goals. Four! By late in the game, the Terps had NW so frustrated that they were more or less just flinging the ball in the general direction of the goal.
Megan Taylor is just a rock in goal picking up 11 saves and the Terps defense caused 14 turnovers. They are almost as astonishing to watch as UConn’s women’s basketball team. Both squads are playing at a remarkably high level.
