The University of Maryland men’s lacrosse team has been selected as the number one overall seed for the 2016 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship.
The Terps, which received an automatic bid by winning the Big Ten Tournament, will play the winner of Quinnipiac and Hartford on Sunday, May 15 at 12:30 p.m. at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium. The Terrapins (14-2) are making their 39th NCAA Tournament appearance, and NCAA-best 14th straight. Maryland is currently riding a program single-season record 13-game winning streak. Maryland is 2-0 all-time against Hartford and has never met Quinnipiac in its history.
This marks the sixth time Maryland has been the number one overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, and first time since 1987. Maryland was also the top seed in 1972, 1973 (NCAA Champions), 1974 and 1976. The Terps have been to four NCAA Final Fours in five seasons (2011-12, 2014-15) under head coach John Tillman, including three national title game appearances. Maryland was unseeded in 2011 and 2012, the 7-seed in 2014 and the 6-seed in 2015.
The winner of the Maryland’s first round game will meet either No. 8 seed Syracuse (ACC Champion) or Albany in the quarterfinals the following weekend on May 21 in Providence, R.I.

Adult general admission seating is $10 and student/senior/youth tickets are $5. Mezzanine seating and suite holder tickets are available for $20.
