Melo Trimble staged an impressive shooting display to score 23 points, and Maryland breezed past Jacksonville State 92-66 Monday night for its fourth straight victory.
Michal Cekovsky scored 15 and freshman Justin Jackson had 12 points and six rebounds for the Terrapins (11-1), who took control late in the first half and received little resistance over the final 20 minutes. Ivan Bender added a career-high 10 points and Dion Wiley chipped in with 13 as the Terps had six players in double figures for the first time since Feb. 2, 2013 versus Wake Forest.
Trimble went 6 for 7 from the floor, including 4 for 5 from beyond the arc, and was 7 for 7 at the foul line. His only miss of the night came with just over seven minutes left, and he followed with a 3-pointer that made it 76-58.
The junior guard was coming off a five-point outing in 26 minutes against St. Peter’s, though his offensive prowess wasn’t needed in that 10-point win. It was his sixth game with 20 or more points this season.
