McFarland would be a terrific addition to this class. He’d be the highest rated committed Maryland recruit thus far based on the 247sports composite. He’s the second rated player from Maryland and the # 3 all-purpose back in the country.
He gives the Terps’ offense another potential game breaker. A guy I know who follows DC & MD HS football very closely describes him this way:
“Ant Mac is also a much better receiver/route runner. Get him coming out of the backfield running a wheel route with a linebacker chasing him and it is all over with an accurate passing QB.
Ant Mac is a threat to take it the length of the field every time he has the ball in his hands. Lolo is not, but Ty Johnson, DJ Moore, and Tyrell Pigrome are.”
He takes on additional significance because if he opts for Maryland, he could help solidify a DeMatha pipeline that would pay big benefits down the road.
One of the best “in the know” predictors on 247, Ahmed Ghafir, flipped his CB prediction to MD earlier this morning. That’s a very good sign for Terps fans.
