COLLEGE PARK, Md. – University of Maryland Head Coach Michael Locksley announced that 21 student-athletes have signed national letters of intent to play football for the Terrapins during the early signing period, which began on Wednesday.
The 2021 class is currently ranked No. 18 by ESPN, No. 19 by 247 Sports and No. 28 by Rivals. It’s highlighted by five ESPN300 selections – linebacker Demeioun Robinson, linebacker Branden Jennings, defensive lineman Tommy Akingbesote, defensive lineman Taizse Johnson and running back Antwain Littleton Jr.
The 21 student-athletes hail from six different states and Washington D.C. Eleven signees are from Maryland, while four are from Florida, two from Washington D.C. and one each from Delaware, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The Terps added 12 players on defense (6 defensive linemen, 3 defensive backs and 3 linebackers) and nine players on offense (3 running backs, 3 tight ends, 1 wide receiver, 1 offensive lineman, 1 fullback).
Seven signees will enroll early and participate in spring practice – Joe Bearns III, Corey Coley Jr., CJ Dippre, Tai Felton, Branden Jennings, Kyle Long and Weston Wolff.
The early signing period extends until Friday and the remainder of Maryland’s 2021 signing class will be announced on February 3.
