Sophomore Dion Armstrong has decided to leave the team, head coach Ralph Friedgen announced after Thursday’s practice. Finally a relief from the O’s. The Birds are 7-19 since the All Star Game , going deeper into the abyss of the AL East.Fortunately the Purple Birds open up tonight. Mason is doubtul and Clayton is out. I am excited to see Ray Rice and Willis, however.

In a break from Terrapin tradition, Jeff Barker of the Sun reports that Ralph is considering naming permanent player team captains. His speculation is that Phil Costa and Chris Turner would be included in the mix.
