Maryland’s Da’Rel Scott hopes the third time is a charm. On Wednesday, the senior was placed on the watch list for the Doak Walker Award, which honors the nation’s top running back, for the third-consecutive season. After a spring of running track for the Terps and an impressive preseason camp, Scott is hoping to return to his 2008 form when he rushed for 1,133 yards (seventh-highest single-season total in school history) en route to first team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors. Nahhh—It was a fluke the Terrapins lost to Carolina last year. Carolina is ranked #1 but Maryland still has Katie O’Donnell for 1 more year. She’s the difference–look for an other Championship for Missy Meharg.
Injury setbacks have created opportunities for tight ends Matt Furstenburg and Dave Stinebaugh. Wouldn’t it be great if the first regular season game was this Saturday night instead of another hold your breathe that no one gets injured game against the Giants. #52 voiced a strong opinion against the 18 game schedule citing the fragility of the players body in a 16 game season. From Ray, I will certainly respect his opinion. But the fan is tired of being ripped off by having to pat full price for these exhibition charades. 2 more … Read More »
A week after the Maryland offense controlled the first scrimmage, the defense held the upper hand in the second and final full scrimmage of the preseason Monday at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium. Two defensive scores – one on a 21-yard interception return by Dexter McDougle and the other on a 22-yard fumble return by Trenton Hughes – highlighted a sound performance by the defense in the 125-play scrimmage which featured possessions at the offense’s 5- and 25-yard line, … Read More »
