The fact that Maryland received a stellar combo pitching effort from Kerry Hickey and Kendra surprised no one in the packed stadium tonight. Fordham make good use of its 3 hits while Maryland could only gather 1 run off its 7 hits. The cushion is gone –the Terrapin nine faces elimination in its game vs Syracuse on Saturday.

It always bugs me when a team deserts its Coach. Kyle Boller never said one word of support for Brian Billick even though Coachspeak probably lost his job over the Boller decision. Trembley–love him or hate him—refuses to toss his non-performing players under the bus. MacPhail has been hesitant to dump the Skip probably because then the focus would be on him. Corey Patterson please don’t get picked off third–it’s embarrassing. It was good to see Trembley smile.

The Celtics have had their way with Orlando. Doc Rivers is clearly the best coach in the NBA. Rajon Rondo has been stupendous. So what does Paul Pierce do–he virtually guarantees a sweep. Think Dwight Howard was excited to hear the prediction. Look out for the Magic in game 3.

Last year Maryland went to South Bend and defeated Dame with Rodgers in the cage.  Look for Maryland’s scoring to be spread out again with playmaker Ryan Young leading the way.

As usual it was a great time at the Terps on Tour event in Baltimore tonight.

Athletic Director Debbie Yow opened up the event by immediately denying the rumors of the Big Ten wooing Maryland to join. She assured Commissioner Swofford that the Terps had no intention of  even considering such a switch.
