At 18 minutes to go in the game the Terps were up 20 and playing their best game of the year. But then Stony Brook started to get really physical and Maryland did not respond well. From that point on the Terps were outscored 33-20 and had to make 4 clutch free throws to preserve the win.
Some key stats:
The Terps shot 9-18 from the 3 point line led by Seth Allen at 3-4.

On what he’s doing to address the turnover problem:
“I don’t know how I look to you guys but I haven’t slept very well since the game ended Sunday. I can’t figure it out. It’s just really trying to move too fast and decision making on the court, and I cant control when guys just dribble off of their feet or fumble the ball out of bounds when they have a layup. Lack of concentration and not valuing each … Read More »
Sophomore guard Dez Wells is coming into own. Sunday Dez scored 25 on top of his 23 point performance at Northwester. Our big scoring 3 of Wells, Faust , and Len combined for 51 points. This was an extremely tough win for the Terps as they do not face a small scrappy team like Paul Hewitt’s George Mason often.
Not a bad crowd at he Verizon for the BB&T–probably about 12000 –mostly Terrapin fans.
Alex Len has caused the most trouble for GM mainly blocking and altering every shot down low. Former Georgia Tech Coach Paul Hewitt is at the helm for GM.
Jake Layman continues to struggle finding his shot. He has attempted 1 three today. PeShon again no points 19-13 Maryland with 8 minutes left.
Terps 1-5 from the 3. Mason 5-22 overall Terps 21-15

Head Coach Mark Turgeon
“That wasn’t a lot of fun, especially in the first half. We obviously weren’t ready to play, physically and mentally we weren’t ready to play. I thought Georgia Southern was ready out of the gate. I was disappointed in our guys in the first half. Logan [Aronhalt] hit some shots for us. I though Charles Mitchell was the only other player to give us something in the first half. The second half we shared the ball, … Read More »
The majority of Maryland fans are most passionate for men’s basketball followed by football which is a distant second. Since Lefty brought big time college basketball to College Park and The DC. area, Maryland has experienced “rivalries” with North Carolina, N.C. St., and Duke. Since the 70’s, Carolina has always been a big game for Md. because the Tar Heels are always a top 10 team and many of Maryland’s teams have been exceptional which elevated those games to another … Read More »
I am tired of talking about conferences, debt and money. But before I start on the what should be a walkover vs Lafayette, let me note I was at the Wizards game last night. Washington has to be a great Bball town as there was a solid 11000 there to watch the 0-8 Wizards.
The point I am making was guess who was starting for the Pacers—-none other then Born Ready, Lance Stephenson. He played OK, but it brought back … Read More »
