Empty–that’s the feeling I have now. One would think that eventually in one of these put up or shut up games the Terrapins would hit a hot streak, but not tonight. It seems the game was a microcosm of a losing Terrapin effort. Jordan strong as ever  with 16 points and 16 rebounds but weak at the line 2-10. Dino steady as he has been all year. In order to win we needed that 3 rd component –another scoring effort. … Read More »

In a year of getting chances to prove itself the Terps get one more Friday night.  The Terrapins had Duke on the ropes at Durham and then only a miraculous game from Kyle Singler saved the Blue Devils at College Park. Maryland is a caged lion backed into the corner of the cage. Stay with the Devils . Don’t have to mount a crazy rally. Cliff Tucker come alive it’s your redemption chance. One game, one win can wash away … Read More »

Patrick Stevens reports in the Wash Times: Note it’s great that Patrick and the Times have reunited. He is one of the most dedicated journalists I have met:

Maryland forward Jordan Williams said he has not put any consideration into his pro prospects as his sophomore season has wound to a close. Williams, who was named to the all-ACC first team on Monday, is averaging 16.9 points and a league-best 11.6 rebounds. “I’m not even thinking about that,” Williams said. “I’m just … Read More »

Maryland’s Jordan Williams has been selected to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Basketball first team, while Terrell Stoglin is an All-Freshman selection. The All-ACC teams were announced Monday following a vote of 75 members of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association. Williams received the second-most points (210) of any player, behind Duke’s Nolan Smith, who was the lone unanimous pick. A sophomore, Williams is the only underclassman on the first-team; Smith, Malcolm Delaney of Virginia Tech and Kyle Singler of Duke are seniors, … Read More »

Maryland’s Jordan Williams earned spots on both the FOXSports.com and Yahoo! Sports All-America basketball teams. Williams, who ranks first in the Atlantic Coast Conference and third nationally in rebounding (11.6 per game), was a 3rd team selection in announcements Monday by both organizations. The sophomore is also second in the ACC in shooting percentage (54.1) and sixth in scoring (16.9 points per game). He has posted a single-season school record 23 double-doubles this year, a mark which ranks third nationally. Great and … Read More »

If it’s believable I like the draw the Terps have. We handled NC State at Comcast on Greivis Vasquez Day and if I had the choice, I believe Duke is the better matchup for the Terps. That is considering the alternative would be North Carolina who is just way too skilled at the big man level for Maryland. There is still a little optimism left. The NC State game is at 7PM Thursday so much of Thursday night’s Terp Talk … Read More »

I have been to the Coral Gables Arena. It might hold 7500 but last night the camera had to keep moving to avoid a really embarassing crowd. Is that how you reward your players on Senior Night? What would ever make a recruit want to go to the U. Basketball recruit that is. For some unknown reason, Coral Gables brings out the worst in the Terps.

Going into last night’s game, I had written that winning the final 2 regular … Read More »

Matt Bracken reports on Tracking The Terps
Sterling Gibbs warmed up for the New Jersey state playoffs this weekend with a dominant performance in the 65th Essex County Tournament championship. The Maryland-bound point guard scored a game-high 24 points to lead Seton Hall Prep to a 70-52 win over Irvington in the title game. “Sterling was a senior that was determined to get one today,” Irvington coach Eugene Robinson said. “He was the best player on the floor and … Read More »

Tyler Zeller–1st round NBA choice
Harrison Barnes—Though a selfish gunner–a 1st round NBA pick–on and on

The Terps must now be indesperation mode . The best we can do is 9-7 in coference and the general consensus was that the Terps needed 10 wins in conference to make it to the dance.. Stoglin had 28 tonight. Jordan had 16 points and 19 bounds but still Zeller and Henson dominated action

Barring an unforseen collapse the Terps have taken care of business winning back to back at home.  They are now 7-6 in conference with a monster game at Chapel Hill Sunday night. Pull the upset at Carolina and the Terps float back into the dance.  Tough game for FSU without its leader Chris Singleton but the Terps did what they had to. It was great to see Adrian play a pivotal role in the game.

Dino Gregory continues to improve … Read More »
