Pressboxonline.com reports tonight that Randy Shannon could be close to becoming the Terrapin Defensive Coordinator. Though Randy was dismissed from the U, there is no doubt he was a tremendous recruiter in the Miami area. He would be a TREMENDOUS addition to Randy Edsall’s staff. UCLA offered the DC position to Shannon but Shannon deferred his decision to talk to the Terps. More tomorrow night on Terp Talk.
Running back Justus Pickett signed a national letter of intent Monday and will join the Terps in the fall. His signing increases the 2011 class to 21 student-athletes. A native of Charlotte, N.C., Pickett rushed for 2,429 yards and 31 touchdowns last season. That was the third-most yards ever in one season by a Mecklenburg County back and the TD total was ninth. Pickett was the 2010 Southwestern 4A Conference Offensive Player of the Year and made several all-state teams … Read More »
Maryland head football coach Randy Edsall announced Monday that Andre Powell has joined the staff as running backs coach. Powell spent the last four seasons at Clemson where he coached running backs and coordinated the special teams his final three years. He tutored All-Atlantic Coast Conference running backs James Davis and C.J. Spiller, two of the top three rushers in Clemson history. Spiller finished his career No. 2 in NCAA FBS history in all-purpose running.
This would be a great get for the Terps. Randy is a great recruiter in the Florida area.
What in the world just happened? I observed a very happy and content Don Brown at the Wednesday night recruit intro event at College Park. Today he leaves? Didn’t he care about the kids who formed an allegiance to him? Wht would he leave like he did? To UConn for the same position. This is absurd.
The following is an excerpt from the Sun about the 3 Florida kids reacted.”I thought he was a good coach,” said Edsall, who … Read More »
Matt Bracken reports in the Sun:
The three-star cornerback prospect from Bowie reopened his recruitment after Ralph Friedgen was dismissed in December. Hendy considered offers from Iowa, North Carolina State and Virginia, but on Tuesday night, he reaffirmed his pledge to the Terps. “It was like 1A and 1B,” Hendy said. “It was a tough decision. I just felt more at home at Maryland. I had maybe a better connection with some of the players already at Maryland … Read More »

This is absolutely great news for Randy Edsall and the University of Maryland. Crowton is former head coach of BYU and Louisiana Tech but has not stood out at LSU. I will take my chances with Crowton and Danny O’Brien. here is the story from ESPN:
Gary Crowton says he’s resigning as LSU‘s offensive coordinator to take a similar job at Maryland where he will be reunited with new Terrapins coach Randy Edsall. Crowton has been with LSU … Read More »
terrapintimes.com is reporting that Gary Crowton is close to leaving LSU and joining the staff of Maryland as Offensive Coordinator. This is a great move by Coach Edsall. He will be surrounded by Don Brown as DC and Crowton. Both are former head coaches. I am liking Edsall more and more with each passing day. Danny O’Brien will flourish under Crowton’s offense. Close the deal guys!!!!
