The No. 1-ranked Maryland field hockey team pulled away from No. 3 Wake Forest, 4-1, Saturday in a classic conference rivalry match. Four Terps scored in the win, while senior goalkeeper Alicia Grater notched four saves to keep the Terps perfect at 10-0 (2-0) on the year. This game was a rematch of last year’s national championship game and ACC championship game, in which the Terps claimed both crowns. … Read More »
Rutgers 31 Maryland 13 says it all. Some observations ona dismal afternoon:
4th and 3 from midfield and we go for it? Rutgers presented the most pathetic offense I have seen for a Terp opponent. Pin them back and maybe a good punt return or turnover or anything positive could happen.
The 2 way after the whistle unsportsmanlike conduct calls were killers. Why? Where is any discipline?
What would the score had been if Savage (QB1 for Rutgers) played?
Torrie … Read More »
It’s gut check time today for Maryland. “I thought we had a good week of practice,” Friedgen said. “Right now we need to get a win. It would be very important for us. Obviously, I was hoping we would win last week so these guys start gaining some confidence. I still think we’ve played three good teams. Whatever the perception might be, Look for Adrian Cannon and DaRel Scott to have big games today.

Despite a dismal team start, at least one Terp leads the nation in a major statistical category. Torrey Smith has averaged 249 all purpose yards a game and is #1 in the NCAA.
Some observations on a crushing Defeat
Torrey Smith is playing his way to the next level. Today he had 5 receptions for 165 yds and 2 TDs and 287 all purpose yards.
Chris Turner was 19-30 for 288 yds and 2 TDs–again playing well
2 fumbles in the 1st quarter led to 2 TDs and was really the reason the Terps lost
4th and 3 with 1 minute left. Here’s my take. If you kick the FG and its good, … Read More »
Yes the defense has been very suspect the first 2 weeks, but despite the lack of an experienced offensive line, the offense has moved the ball. Four trips to the red aone last week, 4 touchdowns. This will be Pinegar’s 2nd week starting at left tackle. Turner has been playing well and I can’t see MTSU stopping the Terps.
Wednesday night Jeremy was moved from the practice squad of the Jacksonville Jaguars to the active roster. This kid though somewhat undersized always played with a lot of heart for the Terps. Good Luck Jeremy!!!
