Junior midfielder Kevin Cooper will serve a one-game suspension this Saturday when the No. 9 Maryland men’s lacrosse team plays No. 2 Virginia at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium. Cooper was ejected from the March 24 North Carolina game and will serve the NCAA’s mandatory one-game suspension for an expulsion foul. The ACC reviewed all available video footage of the on-field altercation and determined no additional suspension was warranted.

My take—A lot of the Terps still have a sick feeling from the loss to UVA in the title game. I will say it–the Cavs were LUCKY that Colin Briggs committed a violation large enough to be suspended for the Semi final game against Denver. He had fresh legs –no one else on the field did–to his credit Briggs scored 5 goals and the rest is history.

Like every terrapin fan I am very disappointed in the loss last night. However, this one game cannot diminish a fantastic 31-5 season for Maryland and head coach Brenda Frese . Alyssa was named to the 1st Team All America Team. And what the heck 31-5 is more then respectable.  Perhaps we truly are the 5th best team in the country. That’s only something to be proud of. Here are some of the facts:

Sam made a verbal commitment to Coach Turgeon Sunday night according to terrapin times.com

His high school Coach and his Baltimore mentor Carlton Carrington both spoke of his verbal to the Terps.

His Dad Sam Cassell apparently wants him to continue his search before he signs his LOI. 

Hopefully Sam Jr will be a Terp!!!!

 Karri Ellen Johnson scored five goals and Alex Aust dished four assists to lead the No. 3 Maryland women’s lacrosse team past Towson 13-3 Tuesday. All five of Johnson’s goals came in the first half and pushed the senior attacker’s mark to 215, five shy of No. 2 on the Terps’ career goals list.
