The Maryland tennis teams have continued their solid play and moved up in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings. The Terrapin women (9-2, 0-2 ACC) jumped from No. 43 to 40 and the men (9-3, 1-2) from 45th to 44th in the ITA rankings that were released Tuesday.  For the women it’s their highest ranking since February, 2007 when the Terps were 33rd nationally.

This is as high as the men have been in the last five seasons. The Terps reached … Read More »

This was not one of the Wizards finer efforts and i will leave it at that.

Listening to the postgame how Glenn Consor asked to name the all time Bullet/Wizard team only worrying about the 5 best players. I called in with my take

Earl Monroe    Wes Unseld    Gus Johnson    Gilbert Arenas     Elvin Hayes

There is an unwritten rule in lacrosse for one time never to cross the 20 goal threshhold when stomping another team. Cathy Reese’s #1 lady Terps were leading 17-0 at halftime. Not wanting to embarrass anyone Cathy put the reigns on her squad. Total domination by the defending NCAA Champs.

Five Maryland pitchers combined for a complete-game shutout andRyan Holland ripped a three-run triple off the right-field wall as part of a five-run seventh inning to lead the Terps over Delaware 8-0 Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore lefty Jimmy Reed (1-1) came on in relief of starter Chuck Ghysels in the fourth and needed just 11 pitches to get through two innings thanks to a pair of inning-ending double plays. Travis Reed and Ryan Young brought the Terrapin attack back to life each registering a hat trick as the Terps moved to 3-1 on the season. Some super saves by Bellarmine’s goalie kept the game respectable. Coach Tillman emptied the bench in the 4th quarter as Bellarmine closed the gap. Next up for Maryland –Towson state on Saturday at 11 AM at Johnny U Stadium.

Maryland’s Jordan Williams has been selected to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Basketball first team, while Terrell Stoglin is an All-Freshman selection. The All-ACC teams were announced Monday following a vote of 75 members of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association. Williams received the second-most points (210) of any player, behind Duke’s Nolan Smith, who was the lone unanimous pick. A sophomore, Williams is the only underclassman on the first-team; Smith, Malcolm Delaney of Virginia Tech and Kyle Singler of Duke are seniors, … Read More »

Remember the name Terrence Ross? Two years ago while he was still deciding I journeyed over to Montrose Christian in Rockville to watch him play. Somewhere in the middle of the 2nd quarter Stu Vetter inserted a 9th grader into the lineup, Justin Anderson. Even as a 14 or 15 year old he was a physical specimen. His game had it all and he was out there playing with men. Maryland’s staff has been all over this kid. Now Justin’s … Read More »
