It makes sense. Shaq is just about finished and within 2 years the Celts will have to pay Big Baby big money. Thus, 1 million per year or so for Jordan to develop into a NBA rebounder is nothing. Pierce, Ray Allen, and KG each make in the $20 million area per year. At this point look for Jordan to be a late first round pick.

The Washington Post is reporting that Jordan Williams has opted to hire an agent and will definitely enter the NBA Draft. Keith Cavanaugh had said on Terp talk last month that it was a “fait accompli” whether Jordan would be a first round pick or not. With the return of the 3 Carolina potential first picks the likelihood of Jordan being selected in the late 1st greatly incresed. The basketball staff is considering adding Spencer Barks to the program, a 6-8 1/2, 240 lb banger from St. Alban’s as a walk-on

Barks, a lefty, had some low D-1 offers, but wanted to give it a try at a higher level. He played for former Terp Duane Simpkins at St. Alban’s, a tremendous academic school, and obviously has solid grades.

We saw Barks in February and he did some nice things. He’s not a high flyer, but … Read More »

Maryland Basketball

It is inconceivable to me that Desmond Hubert chose obscurity with Roy Williams at Carolina instead of a probable starting role with the Terrapins. Now the Kansas State transfer seems like he is 50-50 between Maryland and Rutgers. I just don’t get it. It would be great for the Terps to land a player from the DC Assault AAU program. Stay tuned.

Maryland’s men’s and women’s tennis programs had their rebuilding processes validated Tuesday when both teams were invited to the NCAA Tournament.

The Terrapin men will face Michigan (13-10) in the first round on either May 13 or 14 in Durham, N.C.

Maryland (12-12), which is ranked No. 44 in the nation, is seeded No. 3 in the Duke regional, while the Wolverines, who are 28th in the country, are the No. 2 seed.

The Maryland women’s team, which is in … Read More »

Mendenhall really said the following:

The Pittsburgh Steelers running back on Monday tweeted: “What kind of person celebrates death? It’s amazing how people can HATE a man they have never even heard speak. We’ve only heard one side…”

Mendenhall didn’t hold back, even making a reference to the Sept. 11 attacks.

“We’ll never know what really happened. I just have a hard time believing a plane could take a skyscraper down demolition style.”

Thoroughly unbelievable–questioning the killing of a mass … Read More »

Only incredible saves by Michael Neuvirth kept this game respectable. Who is to blame for the 3rd period breakdown by the Capitals. Please don’t talk about lucky goals. Tampa thoroughly outplayed this superstar laden franchise. Will Boudreau take the fall if the Caps get swept? How can he not? Meanwhile there is no quit in Ovie. Something has to change with the Regular Season wonders.

Hopkins is now #3 behind Cuse and Cornell while The Irish are at #4. That could set up a potential 4-5 matchup of the Terps and Notre Dame. It was Notre Dame that knocked out the Terps last year eventually costing Dave Cottle his job.

All American Shamel Bratton was dismissed from the Cavalier team. Coach Dom Starsia refused to elaborate on the specific reasons this happened but I am searching for the answers as I write.

Derek Lee hit a meaningless 9th inning HR as the O’s lost the final game of a 4game series 6-2 to Chicago. The Nats continue with excellent pitching as Tom Gorzelanny pitched 8 shutout inningsina 2-0 victory over San Francisco. Ironically the O’s are 13-14 and the Nats are 14-14. On to KC for the O’s.
