The 54th annual Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll, recognizing academic excellence by student-athletes during the 2009-10 academic year, was announced Friday by Commissioner John Swofford. The Honor Roll is comprised of student-athletes who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a grade point average of 3.00 or better for the full academic year. A terrible break for Will and the Terps. No spring practice and now very little preseason work, but you know what–I still believe that Will can be a factor this year.  A bad break for a great athlete.

Chism’s ststus is unknown at this time. He had a great spring and had clearly emerged as a starting corner.

Maryland Football

Rex Ryan might be a heckuva coach but he isn’t much of a poker player. His outward stance of the desperation the Jets face without the #1 corner in football will cost his owners plenty. The Jets offer 10 years 120 million—Revis wants 10 years 160 million. I am betting on Revis and guess what —I don’t blame him. To play for 1 million a year is ridiculous. Let’s hope he signs in time for week 2.

Any time you seek a top 25 6’10” star like Johnny O’Bryant from Mississippi, finishing the deal will always be difficult. But according to terrapintimes.com at least Maryland is in the picture. The family is greatly impressed with Bino. Let’s see where this goes.

Maryland Basketball

It’s utterly amazing to watch the influence #52 still has to this day. I watched through my binos the entire team listening to his inspiring pregame speech. When he is introduced even in a meaningless game like last night–the entire stadium awakens.

The strength of this team is the defensive line. Rookie Terrence Cody was superb last night. It will be interesting to see his role as a fullback.

Competition certainly has helped Mark Clayton.  Great TD catch from Flacco.

Three University of Maryland soccer players were named to the 2010 watch list for the Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy, the most prestigious award in college soccer. Senior Jason Herrick and junior Zac MacMath were chosen for the men’s watch list, while junior Jasmyne Spencer was picked for the women’s been tabbed to the 2010 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, announced Wednesday.
