Chuck Neinas is perhaps the most wired in sports headhunter in the country. Some of his recent recruits were Mark Dantonio (Mich State), Urban Meyer (Utah then Florida, Tom Davis (Carolina) and Randy Shannon (The U). It is very obvious Maryland is looking for a high profile person to take over the AD role left vacated by the sudden departure of Debbie Yow.
HARKLESS SETS FIRST OFFICIAL TO MARYLAND
Maurice Harkless, the 6-8 rising senior from Queens, will visit St. John’s unofficially on Sept. 2 and will take his first official to Maryland Sept. 17. After a terrific summer on the AAU circuit, Harkless trimmed his list to eight schools: St. John’s, Maryland, Florida, N.C. State, Cincinnati, Rutgers, Arizona and Memphis. Asked why Maryland gets the first visit, he said: “I just really wanted to get down there and check it out.”
The University of Maryland women’s soccer team checked in at No. 16 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) preseason poll, which was released on Tuesday.
