When the inadvertent whistle blew, eliminating a winning goal against #1 UVA, Maryland’s season was dealt a huge blow. Confidence wise, a win at that game could have reversed the entire season. From that point on, it just seemed like the offense went into a funk. The Notre Dame victory was certainly the highlight of the season.
Can you imagine at one point Virginia led Johns Hopkins 17-5. Hopkins defense was non existent as Glading, Steele Stanwyk, and Shamel Bratton pummeled Hopkins goalie Mike Gvozden. Duke won 12-11 and will now play Syracuse on Saturday. Virginia will play Cornell. Look for UVA and Syracuse to advance with Virginia exacting revenge on Cuse in the final and winning the Championship.
While on the subject of Carmelo, though he was not a Terp, I have always admired how he has given back to his community. Playgrounds have been supplied with equipment all over Baltimore. Eastern Cleveland over Orlando in 5 games Besides LeBron, the Cavs are just too deep for Dwight, Rashard, and Hedo, the Cavs will come off the bench with Ben Wallace and ex Maryland #1 draft pick, Joe Smith. Orlando will not have all the open looks they had in the Celtic series.

The pupil defeated the teacher today as Cathy Reese defeated one of her mentors, the legendary Gary Gait, and will enter her first final four as a coach next weekend at Johnny Unitas Stadium on the Towson University Campus. As soon as I heard Syracuse goalie Galloway was ill and the backup goalie was replacing him, I sensed the Terps were in trouble. Why? Sometimes when a kid is thrown into a brutal situation he either rises to the occasion or his team gets so pumped up to save the unknwon.

University of Maryland head coach Brenda Frese announced today that Erica Floyd has decided to step down from her post as assistant coach of the Terrapins women’s basketball team and will pursue other opportunities outside of coaching in Louisiana.
Floyd spent nine total seasons on the bench with Frese at various stops and 16 years overall as a college basketball assistant.
