The Maryland men’s basketball team garnered the third seed in the 2017 Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., the Big Ten Conference announced Sunday night.

The Terps (24-7, 12-6) topped Michigan State on a last-second Melo Trimble three-pointer on Saturday in the regular season finale to clinch the third overall seed in the tournament. Maryland earned a double bye in the tournament.

Senior Brionna Jones had 27 points and 12 rebounds and No. 4 Maryland beat Purdue 74-64 on Sunday night to win the Big Ten Tournament championship for the third straight season.

The Terrapins (30-2) are the third team in conference history to win three consecutive titles. They also claimed the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Head coach Brenda Frese reached her 400th win at Maryland against the Spartans. Frese has a 78.4 win percentage as the leader of the Terps. She is up to 460 total career wins.

It was not a great day for Lacrosse–temperature wise–and it was a miserable day for the vaunted Terps offense.

Losing 9 of face offs and committing 20 turnovers is a recipe for defeat.

For various reasons the Terps always have trouble scoring against Corrigan and the Irish.

Goalie Dan Morris and his buddy “the Pipes” kept Maryland close with 13 saves.

Notre Dame also had a rough offensive day, committing 17 turnovers.
