Nick Markakis had an RBI single in the ninth inning against fill-in closer Shawn Kelley, and the Baltimore Orioles rallied for a 5-4 victory Wednesday night over the New York Yankees after wasting a three-run lead against Masahiro Tanaka.

Jonathan Schoop hit a three-run homer off Tanaka in the second inning of his first start at Yankee Stadium but Carlos Beltran and Kelly Johnson connected against Miguel Gonzalez in the bottom of the inning. Alfonso Soriano tied it with a groundout in the fourth.

 A showing of 35 representatives from 24 NFL teams gathered at the University of Maryland Tuesday afternoon for the football program’s 2014 Senior Pro Day.

Participating for the Terps were offensive lineman De’Onte Arnett, defensive backs Isaac Goins and Dexter McDougle, linebackers Demetrius Hartsfield and Marcus Whitfield, long snapper Greg Parcher and tight ends Ryan Schlothauerand Dave Stinebaugh.

Shabazz Napier turned in another all-court masterpiece Monday night to lift the Huskies to a 60-54 win over Kentucky’s freshmen and a national title hardly anyone saw coming.

Napier had 22 points, six rebounds and three assists, and his partner in defensive lock-down, Ryan Boatright, finished with 14 points.

Napier kneeled down and put his forehead to the court for a long while after the buzzer sounded. The senior guard was wiping back tears when he cut down the net.Read More »
