Anthony Davis saved John Calipari last night. The Cats outmanned Kansas so bad it was laughable. Yet Coach Cal basically put the ball into the deep freeze after a 14 point half time lead. Only the incredible play of the future first pick in the NBA draft saved him. Bobby Knight said on the Mike and Mike show monday that Davis might be the next Bill Russell. He certainly was Monday night. 16 rebounds, 6 blocks, and probably 12 alterations … Read More »
Some of my takes over the years:
Yes in 1983, I was in the upper deck of Memorial Stadium screaming Elway Sucks til I couldn’t talk. Here’s hoping Elway and Peyton fail miserably in Denver
Yes, I screamed at Jim Gray after his portrayal of Jeffrey Maier as a hero—Stan the Fan was a witness
Yes, I never miss a chance to criticize Jimmy Irsay and now he has tossed out his HOF QB like yesterdays news

“At Madison Square Garden on November 15, Kentucky beat Kansas 75-65. At half- time, the score was 28-28. We’ve got good players, but we broke off every play.” Fast forwarding, they are now known for sharing the ball nicely. “Really, really, really tal- … Read More »
Little things I remember:
Walking to the game down Peachtree Lane with Chuck Rosolio and then NBA Star Sam Cassell SR. I asked Sam if he was a Terp fan that night—he assured me he was. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm!
The streets were lined with thousands of IU fans who journeyed to Atlanta without tickets just to be a prt of the night.
Hugging my friend Dr Irv Raffel in the hotel. Irv was near tears of happiness repeating ‘it was finally our … Read More »
UVA was up 2-0 today when Terp middie John Haus fired in a shot from the left side. (In my opinion) way after the shot left his stick a Virginia defender delivered what seemed to be a late cheap shot to John–helmet to head. The penalty a one minute releaseable foul. The Hoos were not hit nearly as hard by graduation as the Terps were last year and the depth and experience eventualy wore Maryland down. Steele Stanwick was the difference today with 3 goals and 5 assists.
Maryland after getting off to a slow start actually led the game … Read More »
