Okay our great city and my great University have suffered some horrendous losses in my lifetime. But this one might have been the worst. There have been big losses–Super Bowl III to the Jets, 1969 World series Loss to the Mets, 2 7th game losses to the Pirates, the Final Four loss to Duke, the Orange Bowl defeat to Florida. There have been painful losses, the playoff loss to Green Bay on Chandlers failed kick ruled Good, Michigan State’s miracle … Read More »
Some thoughts 36 Hours after a valiant effort by Maryland:
Alex Len’s exit may have sealed the Terps doom Saturday morning but apparently his ankle injury was minor as terrapin times.com reports he will play against Duke.
A great contingent of Terrapin fans showed up at the Palestra and were treated to a great comeback rally by the Terps that fell about 5 minutes short
PeShon turned in his best offensive performance of the year finishing with 15 points on … Read More »
The 13th-ranked Maryland wrestling team won six of the first seven matches en route to its second Atlantic Coast Conference victory of the season as the Terps (12-0, 2-0 ACC) defeated NC State, 27-12, Sunday afternoon at Comcast Pavilion.
Second-ranked junior Josh Asper earned his fifth pin of the season and improved to 19-0, but it was 20th-ranked Sean Gentry and Geoffrey Alexander’s early performances that propelled Maryland to its 12th dual victory.
Alyssa Thomas tied her career-high 26 points, Tianna Hawkins added 17, and Lynetta Kizer had 12 in the second half, but No. 7 Maryland fell at No. 5 Duke, 80-72, Sunday afternoon. Thomas added 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the year. Anjale Barrett added seven assists with just one turnover for the Terrapins (18-2, 5-2 ACC).
Do you think it’s easy to coach legends of the game like 52 and 20. The Ravens defenders speak of Pagano in reverence. We will be lucky to get 1 more year out of our DC before he becomes a head coach.
It’s easy to get caught up in all the Tom Brady, Bill Belichick hype that goes with backing the New England Patriots. Certainly the Patriots looked great against Tim Tebow and Denver last week. But, really, how good were the Broncos, who were 8-8 and backed into the playoffs? Brady and Belichick are sure first ballot Hall of Famers.Brady leads a flashy offense that averaged 32.1 points a game, third-best in the NFL, and a second-best 428.2 yards per game. … Read More »
Tianna Hawkins had already taken a seat on the bench, happy to savor a solid victory by Maryland (No. 7 ESPN/USA Today, No. 8 AP).Then, with just over two minutes left in what would be an 86-58 rout of Wake Forest on Thursday night, word got to coach Brenda Frese that Hawkins was one rebound short of setting the school record. Hawkins was thrust back into the game, snared her 24th rebound on the Maryland end with 32 seconds left, and wore … Read More »

My take on the Ravens game on Sunday and the Flacco-Reed situation
What hurts the most about this game is my concern over Sean Mosley’s ankle injury. He had playing so well of late yet in every press conference Turgeon speaks about Sean’s ankle. Knowing Sean he would play no matter what against Temple but at this point is it not wise to sit him, and give him 8 days rest for Duke.
Padgett, Pankey and Len were pummeled by the FSU bigs tonight. Unfortunately it is becoming a pattern on the … Read More »
I usually hate the No Respect game but dammit I am confounded how the ESPN geniuses are giving the Ravens no chance. Maybe the Ravens shouldn’t even bother to show up on Sunday. The Ravens are a 7 1/2 point underdog? Have they ever been a 7 point underdog in the past few years?
Were we 7 under at Pittsburgh in the past few years? Let’s be real if you had to be on the road for a shot to … Read More »
