I will not pronounce Texas dead and buried even though their ace, Cliff Lee, must have believed he was facing the Orioles. The O’s hammered Cliff Lee this year, one of the few teams to do so. By the way, Aubrey Huff had 3 hits and a rbi for the Giants. It is apparent that pitching might not dominate this series as we originally thought.

Jake Arietta again put in an excellent performance. He pitched 7 strong innings and left after giving a leadoff single in the 8th. His Line—1 earned run, 3 hits, 2 walks, 3 ks, 55 strikes on 93 pitches. He left with the 0s up 4-1, a lead that could have been much higher with 1 or 2 timely hits. If the guy can still hit and we can get him at a reasonable price, welcome home Miquel. Which begs the question –Why did we ever trade George Sherrill for a AA third baseman. Also, who did we get for Aubrey Huff. I wonder how many fans can answer that one.
Aubrey Huff was perhaps the best clutch hitter on the O’s. Even in a down year , Huff had numerous game winning hits. Last night the O’s stranded 12 without getting a timely hit. For Huff, the O’s got a Class A relief pitcher. Somebody explain to me the wisdom of forfeiture.
I am to assume that a Single A closer is worth forfeiting the remainder of the season because by jettisoning Aubrey Huff the chances of the O’s winning 22 of their remaing games and winding up with 70 wins is very remote. —First things first. The crowd at Land Shark Stadium was announced at 10,200. On TV it looked like there were a max of 2000 present and in the late innings about 600. I’m not sure iI would be building a new stadium for this team.

Well it wasn’t pretty or titanic, Matt Wieters first home run was a wind blown opposite field fly that just cleared the wall to give the O’s a 3-1 lead. Later in the 7th with the score tied at 4 Aubrey Huff went deep to give the O’s the W. In Bowie rookie phenom Brian Matusz threw 6 innings of shutout ball.
