JJ went 4-5 including a solo homer. Gonzo blew a lead, Gregg blew a save, and it took a 2 run bottom of the 13th for the O’s to win. Matt Weiders delivered the telling shot.
It’s funny, I was talking with Stan on the Sports Maven this morning and said I would not allow Roberts to worry about stealing bases. He is too valuable as a hitter. This a just a different team. Everything Buck does is right. Corey Patterson hit a 2 run homer and Brian Roberts had 2 hits to lead the way offensively. Next up –the Yankees.
Simon might have just pitched his way off the team last night. Can this ever pitch an inning without serving up a dinger. Julio Lugo looked pathetic striking out with the bases loaded. Adam Jones needs a 4 iron when 2 strikes are in the count. Buck is still 17-11 as the O’s skip.
Jim Johnson, Koji, Gonzo, Simon—–could the bullpen actually be in place. Koji just throws strikes. I guess one of these games someone will take him downtown. BUT A RUN WON”T SCORE BECAUSE OF A WALK!!!!! In Koji’s last 10 appearances, he has allowed 0 walks. Buck is 17-10 and clutch plays and hits are everywhere!!!
It really seemed like outside pitch after outside pitch were called for strikes tonight against the O’s.Normally mild mannered Nick Markakis lost his cool and was tossed from the game.
I went to the O’s game last night. Good effort in a losing battle. Some thoughts:
Where have you gone Corey Patterson? Buck must have seen some of the blunders.
I like how Buck stays withe starters much longer. Part of the reason the O’s always have a September swoon is because the bullpen is just finished.
Matt Wieters looked great at bat in his last 2 trips.

It was great to settle in to my sofa after returning home from the National Sports Collectors show, to watch the final 4 innings of the O’s Games. Guthrie and Wiggy led the way yesterday. And yes, that is the New Markakis being a leader by example. 5 out of 6 for Buck!! For a guy who is bitter over not being selected as the new Skip, Rick Dempsey still displays his love for the O’s.
