University of Maryland rising sophomore Lauren Varnas is one of 955 players competing at the 2009 U.S. Women’s Amateur, which will be contested at Old Warson Country Club in St. Louis beginning on Monday.Varnas, who recorded one top-10 finish as a freshman in 2008-09, competed in the sectional qualifier in Colts Neck, N.J., on July 15.
