Three of the final 4 teams in the final four of Field Hockey are members of the ACC. Maryland plays Ohio State in the semis and the winner faces the winner of UVA and Carolina on Sunday at high noon. Some observations of the Terps final regular season tuneup before major game against #4 Pitt.
Cliff Tucker’s turned on the jets for 16 first half points basically ending any chances Maine had for the day.
Dino Gregory fouled out in 17 minutes contributing 6 points and 3 rebounds. Co Captain Sean Mosley was held scoreless but have no fear his offense will return.

Ralph after yesterday’s game
Who would have thought? Well this is what it comes down to. Win this Saturday against FSU and then defeat NC State next Saturday and yes we will be playing Virginia Tech in Charlotte for the right to be one of the BCS 10. The prize –a trip to the Orange Bowl.

Maryland women’s soccer’s record-setting season came to an end on penalty kicks vs. Georgetown in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday at Ludwig Field. The Hoyas stopped the first two Terrapin penalty kicks in the shootout and eliminated the Terps, 3-2. The two teams were deadlocked at 1-1 through 110 minutes making the official result a tie. A Matt Kassel penalty kick goal followed by a tremendous defensive effort provided Maryland with its fourth league tournament title Sunday, as the Terps dropped North Carolina, 1-0, in the 2010 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Championship. Maryland (17-2-1) goalkeeper Zac MacMath was named the ACC Championship Most Valuable Player after tallying six saves to preserve the Terps’ 13th shutout this season. Kassel, Casey Townsend and Jason Herrick were also tabbed to the all-tournament team.

Again the d could not stop Marc Verica early- 165 yards passing in first half
Virginia had 14 penalties for the day—however several were for pass interference that saved touchdowns. Early in the first half a UVA corner virtually tackled Torrie that saved a TD –Terps were rewarded with a 15 yard penalty—rule must be changed
