JT: “We always have different plans with faceoffs. Charlie’s been a bit nicked up and he’s been in and out of the lineup. We have a lot of confidence in Jon (Garino) and Andrew (Walsh). We have a couple other guys we can go to if we needed to. Charlie continues to make good progress. He was dressed last week and we’ll see how he is on Saturday.

He’s a guy that’s hard to keep off the field but as … Read More »

By my rough count, the Big Ten has handed out 84 weekly player of the week or co-player of the week awards – 46 men’s and 38 women’s – in its inaugural lacrosse season. Because of their respective start dates, Maryland wasn’t eligible for four of the men’s awards and six for the women. This week, two Terrapin women and one man won conference player of the week plaudits bringing the men’s total to 12 and … Read More »

For 56 minutes the Terps were dominated in this game and trailed 9-5 but then the cream rose to the top.

The tying goal from Colin Heacock was a rocket at an extreme angle.

Jay Carlson scored the game winner as he completed the hat trick. Maryland always has 1 Senior who rises to new levels–Dan Burns, Joe Cummings, Andrew Schwartzmann, and now Jay Carlson. This is not to take anything away from his his performance last year, but Jay … Read More »

For most of you, Maryland athletics is close to exclusively about two sports – football and men’s basketball. Periodically, other Terrapins teams may appear as proverbial blips on your radar: women’s basketball as they roll to a Big Ten title or reach a Final Four, Sasho Cirovski’s soccer squad as they make their generally annual run deep into the postseason, perhaps the same goes for Missy Meharg and her field hockey team or either of Maryland’s … Read More »

When the B1G scheduled Maryland as Ohio State’s opponent for the Buckeyes’ seventh annual Showdown in the Shoe, they probably knew it would be a showcase for Big Ten lacrosse but it’s impossible to know whether anyone anticipated the number of elements that would combine to add layers of significance to the contest. You see, because of its timing, the Showdown in the Shoe is the most important date on Ohio State’s lacrosse calendar. The game … Read More »

According to Quint, Maryland is now #5 in the nation, dropping 2 spots after wins over Loyola and Rutgers this week.  REALLY?. The difference in 4 or 5 could be a trip to Denver in the quarters to play Denver instead of playing in the friendly confines of Annapolis.  So according to Quint, the team that has been in the final four 3 of the last 4 years, the team that is currently 11-1, the team that has won its … Read More »

Carolina and Maryland each have 1 loss and Maryland defeated Carolina 10-8.

Sophomore defender Tim Muller has been named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after helping the No. 3 Maryland men’s lacrosse team (11-1, 3-0 B1G) to a pair of victories this week over No. 19 Loyola and Rutgers.

A Maryland player has captured Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors eight out of nine weeks this season.

It was, by no means, their best effort of the season. The first half was particularly lackluster but the Maryland men’s lacrosse team pulled things together with an emphatic five goal run to escape Rutgers with their second straight one goal win this time a 9-8 decision improving their record to 11-1 for the season and 3-0 in Big Ten play.

In the early going, the pipe was not Maryland’s friend as both Matt Rambo and Joe LoCascio found the … Read More »
