Senior Jessica Hollandsworth qualified for her first-ever U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship after shooting an even-par 71 at the USGA sectional qualifier hosted by the Sapona Country Club on Thursday, July 7.Hollandsworth shot a 1-over 36 on the front nine and finished with a 1-under 35 to complete the 6,323-yard course. The Rotary Lombardi Award Committee made the announcement Tuesday with Vellano among 19 players from the Atlantic Coast Conference on the preseason list which will be periodically updated and revised up to the first round of voting to determine the 12 semifinalists in October. Whereas it might seem right now that the owners have the players over the barrel. I predict there is double pressure–the owners cannot afford to lose one of its 2 ripoff exhibition games. Now that it seems like the 18 game chatter was nothing but a hoax–look for an end to the strike by Monday July 18.
