The University of Maryland wrestling team capped the 2008-09 season with a bang Saturday, finishing in 10th place at NCAA Championships at Scottrade Center in St. Louis. Maryland finished with 47.5 points, finishing ahead of the likes of traditional powerhouses Michigan, Northwestern, Minnesota, Oklahoma State and Penn State, among others. Iowa won its second straight team championship with 96.5 points.

Although Hudson Taylor (197 pounds), Alex Krom (141 pounds) and Steven Bell (133 pounds) all clinched all-American status Friday, the trio wrestled for final … Read More »

When a great team plays great, what happened today is not surprising. The Memphis Tigers shot 58% including 11-19 from the 3 point line and that is that. Some of my observations of today’s game:

Dave Neal never got rolling but in fairness he wasn’t able to square up.

Greivis played Ok especially in the 2nd half. I surely hope if he goes to the NBA camps , he makes it a player not a 2nd round hanger on. Three … Read More »

The Terrapins are 1-9 from the 3  and Memphis is 8-11 and 19-27 overall. What else needs to be said. It is going to be very tough to make any sort of comeback but I guarantee one thing , Memphis will never stay this hot, but the cushion might be too much because of the rebounding edge Memphis has. Dave Neal is 0-3 from the 3 pt line. this will change and Greivis has only 6 points.  Men’s lacrosse got … Read More »

Wow, this isn’t the same Memphis team I saw the other day. Tyreke Evans has been great. The Terps must find a hot man from the outside.  We continue to attack against Dozier and taggart. Adrian Bowie has greatly picked up his game beginning with the Duke effort. Ther’s a long way to go but let’s watch how we deal with Sallie and Evans. It’s 31-19 now and the game is going the way Memphis buries teams. The Terps’ hope … Read More »

I will be blogging though Twitter all throughout the game tomorrow. Join in on the website in the forum section especially for pre and post game discussion. Yes, I am excited about this game. Every Terp fan is wondering what the Maestro, Gary Williams has up his sleeve for this game.

There is only one Greivis Vasquez. If he was a football player , he would be a natural Raven. Greivis is going into this game with Memphis fearless and shouting Maryland’s praises all over Kansas City. When I watched Memphis the other day the first comment I made is that they could never go unbeaten in the ACC. I see about a 11-5 record. Greivis reminds of the first playoff game with the Titans when the Ravens came in screaming … Read More »

What a huge disappointment, we have Greivis spouting off about the strength of ACC,  and then Clemson, Wake Forest, Florida State, and Boston College all lose to lower seeded teams in the first round. There will be a price to pay for this collapse next year. The amazing fact is that only the Terps won a game that wasn’t against a walkover opponent. North Carolina and Duke opened at home with 2 creampuff opponents.

Baltimore native and Carolina Alum, Joe Breschi brings his #11 Tar Heels into College Park for a crucial ACC contest against the Terrapins. Both teams come off disappointing losses last weekend: Maryland to UMBC and Carolina to Duke 12-8. Key matchups tomorrow include faceoffs with Shane Walterhoefer going up again Bryn Holmes and Jeff Reynolds. Look for Mike Griswold to take on the assignment of Bart Wagner, North Carolina’s premier scorer. I am curious to see who gets the call … Read More »

Gary Williams said to me after the game he loves dissecting teams he hasn’t played much.  He must have enjoyed himself because he dissected the California Bears and Mike Montgomery like the maestro we know.  Montgomery had no answer for Greivis who scored 27. Eric Hayes played a flawless game with 0 turnovers and a key 3 pointer. Bot it was Adrian Bowie who stepped up his game the most scoring a dozen with 7 assists. Steady Dave Neal added 15 … Read More »
