Certainly the Terps have snuck a peek around the corner since the American game. The starters combined for 56 points tonight as the W was never in doubt. Bambale, now planted in the starter’s role and Eric Hayes aggressively drove the basket and the defense created 24 turnovers to create an easy victory. The Terps fell to OSU in the Emerald Bowl, succumbing to Yvenson Bernard’s 174 rushing yards and a plethora of mistakes by the Terps. Unable to sustain any running attack, the Terps were forced to throw on most every play. Several dropped passes and 7 untimely penalties denied the Terps any chance of victory. Chris Turner threw for 2 TD passes in the losing effort. The Terps finished the season at 6-7.
After cruising through the Oregon secondary in the first period with 2 TD drives, Maryland reverted to earlier season woes with 2 turnovers and several drive killing dropped passes to allow OSU to rally to a 14-14 halftime tie. In a featured battle with Georgetown bound Henry Sims, Sean Mosley scored 14 of his 30 points in the 4th quarter, while leading St Frances to a big win over Mt St Joe last Sunday. Maryland Basketball fell to 6-6 last Saturday, as American University controlled the 2nd half and eased to a huge upset victory over the Terp. Hayes and Vasquez combined for 44 points but the team’s shooting woes continued. Gary blamed the loss on a lack of intensity. The Terps will try to start a turnaround on Friday versus Delaware 6PM at Comcast Center. The game will be televised on Comcast Sportsnet.
