 Maryland senior tight end Matt Furstenburg has been named to the preseason watch list for the John Mackey Award, the Nassau County Sports Commission announced Tuesday.

University of Maryland director of athletics Kevin Anderson will become president of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) for 2012-13, the association announced Tuesday. Anderson was elected to the post in conjunction with the 47th Annual NACDA Convention, which was held June 22-28 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas. Anderson replaces UCLA director of athletics Dan Guerrero, who served as President in 2011-12.

Former Maryland standout Graham Zusi was selected as a member of the 2012 Major League Soccer All-Star First XI Sunday.

It is the first career selection for the Sporting Kansas City midfielder. The 2011 MLS Breakout Player of the Year, Zusi is the only player to have appeared in every match for Sporting Kansas City this season and is second in the league with eight assists.

Maryland senior defensive lineman Joe Vellano has been named to the watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award, which honors the nation’s top defensive player.

Vellano is one of 65 players on the initial watch list, including 10 from the Atlantic Coast Conference, announced Monday by the Maxwell Football Club.

I kinda of felt sorry for England today.  The entire country pinned their hopes of ending the 77 year Wimbledon title drought on Murray. But he just was no match for Roger. When Federer broke service in the 25 minute 6th game of the 3rd set, Murray was cooked.  Roger pushed him around the court like only the great Federer could do.
