At one point while I was watching both games, The Caps as usual were blowing a 3-0 lead as Florida trimmed the margin to 3-2 while Buffalo was leading 1-0. The Flyers unleashed a barrage of shots on Buffalo eventually getting the game winner with 3 minutes left. A minute or so later the Caps sealed the berth when Alexander Semin stuffed a backhand shot in the net. Should the Caps defeat the Rangers on Saturday, while Florida loses–Washington would … Read More »

Maryland kicked off its third week of spring football practice with some personnel adjustments leading up to the team’s first official scrimmage Saturday.
Head coach Randy Edsall announced Tuesday morning that Nate Clarke (offensive guard to nose tackle) and A.J. Hendy (safety to cornerback) moved positions. “The big thing with the spring with the players who are here is it’s a chance to evaluate them and make sure they are in the right spots,” Edsall said after the two-hour practice. “As we sat down … Read More »

This isn’t the Navy we’ve come to know over the past 15 or so years. There’s a new admiral (the “new sheriff in town” metaphor just didn’t seem appropriate for Navy) on deck for this Midshipmen team as Rick Sowell is in his first year as the Mids head coach.
Sowell came to Annapolis from Stony Brook, where his Seawolf teams were known for their high-scoring offenses and middle-of-the-road defenses. The last three seasons, Stony Brook was ranked among the … Read More »
What a great night for Maryland hoops at the banquet last night. Optimism reigns supreme as many in attendance anxiously await the 2012-13 season. Sean Mosley was very emotional speaking of his love for the university and how much his 4 years at Maryland meant to him. I found it fascinating how the assistant coaches studied Maryland basketball history and wove it into presentation of the awards.
