I just have a great feeling about this year’s squad. Trailing 5-1 in the 5th the Terps tied it up on a 3 Run HR by Tim Kiene. The Bruins scored in the bottom of the inning and held on for a 6-5 win. Last night the Terps scored 2 in the 9th and Jimmy Reed struck out the side to preserve a 2-1 victory before a stunned UCLA crowd.

With Ray Lewis‘ decision to come back for another year, the Ravens might be a little less desperate to find the next great linebacker, and can instead hit another big need. Matt Birk will need a replacement at center, and Konz is the best one in the draft. Observations of a great opening win for the Terps:
Curtis Holmes won the face face off battle 19-1. A team will rarely lose with this margin. Today was no different. Curtis also had a goal and scooped 9 ground balls.
Quint Kessenich did not pick Maryland for his top 10 this year and somewhat indicated that Hartford was on the rise and the Terps were on the fall. That was not what I saw.

Not much to say. Stogs hot hand kept the game in hand. I will never understand why the Terps have so much trouble in Virginia. I am not going to dwell on this effort. Turgeon was disgusted as the game slipped away.

The Maryland softball team opened its 2012 season Friday with two wins, including a 7-3 victory over No. 11 Michigan. In their first game of the day, the Terrapins (2-0) beat Long Island, 3-1.
Eight Terrapins notched at least two hits and three, seniors Kathy McLaughlin, Bree Hanafin, and Sloane Van Meter, each had three hits. As a team, Maryland outhit both opponents 20-4.

– Tianna Hawkins notched a career-high 26 points and Alyssa Thomas added 16 to lead No. 7 Maryland past Virginia, 73-56, Thursday night at John Paul Jones Arena. The win was victory No. 300 for head coach Brenda Frese.
