Freshman Alyssa Thomas had 19 points and 11 rebounds, Kim Rodgers scored 13 of her 17 points during a 17-0 first-half run, and No. 14 Maryland extended its domination of Wake Forest with a 75-44 victory Friday night. Sophomore Tianna Hawkins had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Terrapins, who led 42-18 at halftime and 59-28 with 12 minutes left. Maryland (17-3, 4-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) has won 10 straight over the Demon Deacons and leads the series 51-12.

Maryland’s young basketball team appears to have finally grown up. Freshman Alyssa Thomas of the No. 13 Maryland women’s basketball team was named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Rookie of the Week the league announced Monday. She earned the weekly honor for the third time this season.  Through the first three ACC games, Thomas is averaging 16.7 points per game, 11.3 rebounds and 3.7 steals per game. She notched her first and second career double-doubles at No. 3 Duke and against Boston College.

Lynetta Kizer scored a season-high 21 points, Tianna Hawkins added 17 points and 12 rebounds and Maryland (No. 22/23) won its seventh straight game, 79-61 over Loyola of Maryland on Tuesday night. The Terrapins (8-1) took control by ending the first half on a 32-7 run and won despite the absence of second-leading scorer Alyssa Thomas, who sat out with a knee laceration.
