After 2 hours at the game yesterday, the O’s were down 14-6, the game was in the 3rd inning, and the Red Sox player who was not pummeling Oriole pitching was Melvin Mora’s new advisor–0 for5 David Ortiz. As I have said many times the O’s cannot compete with the Red Sox and Yankees. I wish I was wrong but watching these “games” is pathetic. Look for a disgruntled Melvin Mora to be released within the week or so.

The point has been made several times that the Orioles don’t know how to win. A look at the current roster shows no one has been a significant player on a major league team that has won and the manager has had a losing record during his 20 yr minor league career. The point has been made several times that the team is in need of a leader. Well, if the manager has never won and none of the players … Read More »

David Hernandez again pitched well for the O’s. Combine this with some strong hitting from Nick Markakis and the Birds coasted to an easy win.  Markakis was moved to the cleanup spot and responded witha 2-4 performance including a home run. The Orioles come home and hopefully they will respond in order to save their skipper.

The Orioles were totally dominated again by the Bronx Bombers. The question needs to be asked can we ever compete in our division. The team just seems so resigned to defeat. Where is the clubhouse leader?    What next?  In a move that will totally depress Dino, the Orioles spring training home will move to Sarasota.

The Orioles continue to sink deeper into last place as the abysmal road show continues. Brian Roberts and Markakis each had 3 hits last night in a losing cause. Jim Palmer commented that SP Hill had absolutely nothing on his ball and basically was just throwing and hoping. He can not continue to start. Again the highlight of the game was a tremendous throw from Markakis to Weiters nailing Jeter at home.

A routine throw to first that was inexplicably dropped by Ty Wigginton opened the floodgates for the White Sox to score all 4 of their runs to deafeat the O’s 4-3. The one bright spot of the game was the the arms of the Orioles’ outfielders. Reimhold and Markakis each threw strikes to elimate 2 runs or more in the disastrous 5th inning.

I am going to keep a close watch on this 2nd season because I do believe that the fate of Dave Trembley is in the hands of the O’s record from here on out. The team and Trembley cannot afford another 2nd half collapse. Walks, hbp, and home runs were the downfall tonight. One good sign –Melvin Mora had 3 hits maybe signaling the start of a 2nd half surge.

If I were Dave Trembley I would do the following :

Demand as much pitching help as he can get. The future is now.

Put on the brakes on the team’s baserunning. The O’s have run themselves out of many games.

KEEP GEORGE SHERRILL ON THE TEAM. Do not let this guy go.

Trembley must not be a part of another August September swoon!!!

Melvin Mora was picked off first, misplayed 3 ground balls, but overcame a 50 game homerless streak to hit a walkoff dinger in the 12th.  Dave Trembley sat out his 2nd game in a row due to his suspension but will return tomorrow when Brad bergesen takes the mound for the O’s.
