This is a time to praise Dave Trembley. He is beginning to push the right buttons. The O’s staged a gallant 9th inning comeback to defeat the Philadelphia Phillies last night 6-5 as Brian Roberts smacked a 2 run dinger with 2 out in the 9th. Sherrill closed out the game for his 14th save.
What is going on with the Orioles? It is not September yet. Mired in last place in the East, unable to score, unable to win, shake things up Dave. This is not a time to stand pat.
It’s getting impossible to watch as the O’s hitting failures continue. Let’s hope it just road show blues. The team returns home Tuesday night against Seattle, the start of a 9 game home stand.
Maybe we jumped the gun a little. There’s still a long way to go with this squad.
Someone please explain how in the world Aubrey Huff gets picked off 3rd base with 2 0ut and the score tied. Can Melvin Mora bunt? Why send Huff in the 10th when your hottest hitter is up next? Can a whole team go into a slump (except Luke of course). Ichiro’s hit streak is now up to 27.
I guess i jumped the gun a little. Tiger pitching slowed down the suddenly vaunted Oriole attack Sunday , shutting out the Birds 3-0. Making his second big-league start, Baltimore rookie Jason Berken (1-1) gave up one run, four hits and two walks in seven innings. The only glaring flaw in his outing was a fourth-inning solo shot by Curtis Granderson. The O’s now head to the Left Coast to play Seattle Sunday night.
Let’s tell it like it is, for the first time in recent memory the O’s are hot. Tonight we will probably witness the largest walk-up crowd in years. Why, because the legend finally arrives tonight. Matt Wieters will be in the starting lineup for the Os. Add this to what now seems the outfield for a decade and Oriole fever is back. this season is just starting!!!
I can’t believe I am beginning to believe again. Pinch me. A 3 run walk off homer by Reimhold. Holy cow? I must be dreaming. When I awaken in a few days I’ll see how the dream is doing.
Well he is finally here. Matt wieters joins the other “future Orioles” this Friday night at Camden Yards. The lineup is starting to have the look that might bring people back to the yard. Certainly the outfield seems set for 5 years with Markakis, Jones, and Reimhold. The only weak spots left are shortstop and DH. I can’t wait to see Mr Wieters. All the hype has to mean something!!!
Arod, and Texeiera went deep again as the bullpen faltered and ended whatever chance the O’s could have had in 7 run 7th inning. The O’s #1 starter Jeremy Guthrie goes tomorrow against Phil Hughes. Meanwhile in Boston, Big Papi’s slump continues. The Red Sox might be looking Aubrey Huff’s way. Is it too early for the O’s to give up?
