Maryland Coach Mark Turgeon
On the transition over the last five months:
“The most difficult thing was getting my family here. Traffic can be a pain in this area. Everything has been great. The people have really accepted me. I’m on a honeymoon with the media since I haven’t lost a game yet. The players have been working hard for me. If there have been any surprises they have been pleasant. I knew everything wasn’t going to be perfect … Read More »
Maryland’s Jordan Williams has been selected to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Basketball first team, while Terrell Stoglin is an All-Freshman selection. The All-ACC teams were announced Monday following a vote of 75 members of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association. Williams received the second-most points (210) of any player, behind Duke’s Nolan Smith, who was the lone unanimous pick. A sophomore, Williams is the only underclassman on the first-team; Smith, Malcolm Delaney of Virginia Tech and Kyle Singler of Duke are seniors, … Read More »
I have been to the Coral Gables Arena. It might hold 7500 but last night the camera had to keep moving to avoid a really embarassing crowd. Is that how you reward your players on Senior Night? What would ever make a recruit want to go to the U. Basketball recruit that is. For some unknown reason, Coral Gables brings out the worst in the Terps.
Going into last night’s game, I had written that winning the final 2 regular … Read More »
Tyler Zeller–1st round NBA choice
Harrison Barnes—Though a selfish gunner–a 1st round NBA pick–on and on
The Terps must now be indesperation mode . The best we can do is 9-7 in coference and the general consensus was that the Terps needed 10 wins in conference to make it to the dance.. Stoglin had 28 tonight. Jordan had 16 points and 19 bounds but still Zeller and Henson dominated action
Duke’s Nolan Smith has been selected as the ACC Player of the Week and Maryland’s Terrell Stoglin is the ACC Rookie of the Week following their outstanding performances. Stoglin averaged 25.0 points and 7.5 assists during the week, as Maryland lost to Virginia Tech, 91-83, and won at home over NC State, 87-80. The Tucson, Ariz., freshman had 25 points in Blacksburg, including a 10-for-10 effort at the line. He also had a team-high six assists in 28 minutes. On Sunday … Read More »

Memo-30 Gary ‘s Post Game Press Conference
This one really hurts. I journeyed up to Chesnut Hill todayand suffered through another nip and tuck battle that the Terps barely lost.
Some of the bad points:
Maryland had no answer for Reggie jackson who finished with 31 points on 12-16 shooting, including 1 of 5 threes very late in the game that served as the dagger.
The Terps fall to 5-5 in the conference in a game that was perceived … Read More »
Despite what the Dookies say this has turned into the game the nation watches in the ACC. Carolina is not the Carolina of even a few years back and when you look for what it takes to battle with Duke, Gary Williams might not have the same talent but he always has the answers. That’s why tomorrow night at 9, Steve Lavin, Tom Izzo, Bobby Knight, Dookie V, every great coach in the land will be tuned in to ESPN. At … Read More »
Utterly amazing. the Terps are 11-5 and all 5 losses could have easily have gone the other way. Fouls shots, clutch shooting, short lapses in defense have all contributed to the 5 losses. somehow or another the 3 non conference losses were all on neutral courts. Now the Terps travel to Philly to face Villanova or “Montrose North” as we know it. The Terps have proven they can play with anyone. Their intensity and overall preparation are unmatched. THEY NEED … Read More »
The Terps exploded after the start of the 2nd half to a 38-32 lead but after Coach K tongue lashing to the Blue Devils , Duke stormed back and dominated the rest of the game. Little used sub, Tyler Thornton came off the bench for Duke with 3 steals, took 2 charges and provided much needed energy to the #1 team in the land. Jordan was his usual excellent self tonight nailing his 9th double double in a row–with 23 … Read More »
