Junior Grant Catalino had six points on two goals and four assists to lead the sixth-ranked University of Maryland men’s lacrosse team to a 12-7 season-opening victory over Bellarmine Saturday afternoon at Owlsey B. Frazier Stadium.

Goalie Brian Phipps came through with a stellar 11 save performance Saturday, helping the Terps to a 10-6 victory. travis Reed tallied 2 goals with one assist. Maryalnd must wait for the selection committee’s decision on Sunday night at 9PM. Ironically Loyola’s loss at Hopkins might be the result that tosses Maryland into the Tournament.

Grant Catalino scored 5 points and Travis Reed and Dan Groot added 3 goals apiece as Maryland rebounded from a lacklustre Saturday effort against UMBC to easily defeat Zack Greer and the Bryant Bulldogs. Today the attack was back as a smooth functioning unit. Grant Catalino, Dan Groot and Travis Reed each scored twice and added a pair of assists to lead the third-ranked Maryland men’s lacrosse team to a 18-3 victory over Presbyterian in the opening contest of the Wounded Warrior Project’s “Face Off for a Cause” fundraising event. Senior midfielder Jeff Reynolds, who finished with two goals and an assist, got things off to a quick start for the Terps, scoring the game’s first goal just 13 seconds into the contest.
