About the only way the first 10 minutes of the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament game between the Maryland Terrapins and the Yale Bulldogs could not have gone much better for Maryland would have been if an early Terps shot or two had found the net rather than the post.
The first bit of apparent good news for Maryland came when Charlie Raffa took the field for the opening faceoff. However, that faceoff, as well as three of the four in … Read More »
But wait, there’s more! No, this isn’t an infomercial. It’s an “in case you missed it” recap of some more Big Ten awards and honors for Maryland Terrapins athletes. You might have read our stories about the All-B1G women’s lacrosse team, or Casey Ikeda and the men’s lacrosse honors. We also had a broader look back at Maryland’s first B1G season and more recently noted the achievements of three Terps softball players in our BigTen … Read More »
My take—Now that’s a feather in the cap for this program
On A.J. Hendy: Safety
“A.J. has done well. That’s something that you would expect out of a guy that’s a fifth year player. He’s playing well right now. He’s playing with confidence. He’s doing all the things that we want him to do back there. He’s communicating well which is important for a safety. Now it’s his opportunity to step up and shine in that … Read More »

The Ohio State Buckeyes and Maryland Terrapins traveled to Piscataway to meet in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals. The Buckeyes came into the tournament likely needing to win it all to claim a bid to the NCAA Tournament and played like it. They held their own in the draw circle winning 10 of 22 and outhustled the Terps getting to 13 ground balls to Maryland’s nine.
They held Taylor Cummings to no goals and one assist. They scored an exceedingly … Read More »
Less than two weeks after their overtime loss to Maryland in the Showdown in the Shoe, the Ohio State Buckeyes came to College Park to face the Terrapins in a Big Ten semifinal contest. The Terps didn’t play their best game for the first three quarters and had missed two critical opportunities but still managed to hold on to a slim 5-4 lead. The fourth quarter belonged entirely to Ohio State and the Buckeyes pulled away for a 9-6 win.
Some comments on a sad night at College Park
Last year when the Big 10 Commissioner awarded the first Lax tournament to be played in College Park, I was ecstatic. Tonight after watching another home loss by the Terps, i was extremely disappointed. And yet the Terps are still 12-3 but on a downward spiral.
The good–maybe Charlie Raffa needs 2 more days to be ready. It’s clear that the Terps are a vastly superior team with #7 playing.
So it’s … Read More »
Food for thought: Before Saturday night’s loss to Johns Hopkins, the last time the Maryland men’s lacrosse team lost a game was February 14th to Yale in a game played in New Haven. In that contest, the teams were tied at six all entering the fourth quarter and the Elis outscored the Terps 4-0 to grab a 10-6 win. Saturday night, Maryland led 10-9 entering the fourth quarter before the Blue Jays outscored the Terps by four (6-2) to triumph … Read More »
