I had a chance to speak with Montrose Coach Stu Vetter before the game tonight and yes he acknowledged the fact that Terrence Ross had reopened his recruiting process. Coach Vetter said there were 4 Eastern schools, including Maryland, in the hunt. The other 3 schools were certainly basketball powers according to the coach. Coach Vetter does not allow visits during the season, so most certainly a decision would most likely be put off until the spring.
Let me start by saying at this point there is no official word from anyone. But speculation in the Washington Post (naturally), Rivals.com and even the terrapintimes.com, appears to be declaring that Ross is being wooed by other schools but Maryland is still deep in the mix. This is all speculation–if i have a chance to speak with Stu Vetter, Ross’ coach at Montrose, I will report later tonight. Stay tuned!!!!!!
Ten days, I believed this would be a Crimson Tide runaway but then today I read the Sports Illustrated synopsis of the game. Texas has defensive speed the likes of which Bama hasn’t seen. Also, Colt McCoy is stinging from the loss of the Heisman due to his horrific performance against Nebraska. Bama’s QB is a Freshman and Mark Ingram will not see a 100 yard day against Texas. “Hook em Horns” an upset is in the works. Tim Rosolio … Read More »
There is no secret–this is going to be a tough test for the Terrapins. W&M comes into maryland riding a 8 game streak based on terrific 3 point shooting, which occasionally has been a sore spot for the Terps. Gary commented on the effects of rebounding and 3 point shooting: “The hardest three pointer to guard is off an offensive rebound because everybody is going toward the glass,” the coach said. “Florida Atlantic had three threes after an offensive rebound. We’re working … Read More »
PressBox put on a heckuva show Tuesday night. Art Donovan, Gino Marchetti, Ordell Braase, and Jim Mutscheller reminisced about the forgotten game-the 59 Championship . Job well done Stan!!
Maryland opened the game with a 13-4 run including a nine point performance by sophomore Kim Rodgers before the first media timeout to claim the title of the Terrapin Classic. The Terps defeated the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks 67-61 in the final game of the tournament. Maryland’s own Lynetta Kizer was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after her double-double performance against Stony Brook (13 points/10 rebounds) and her double-digit points scored against UNC-Wilmington. Loni Bjork also had a big part in … Read More »
Wisconsin 20 Miami 14 in the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando. This was supposed to be an easy win for the U, but Wisconsin dominated from wire to wire. Coach Randy Shannon must improve the Offense. The Terrapins travel to the U next year. I won’t miss that one.
In sports a warrior is defined by the player who goes all out all the time, someone who lays his body on the line every game. a player who takes risks that usually pay off but sometimes leaves him alone on an island, a guy who has so many injuries but won’t leave the field, a guy who nobody could blame if he retired today, a guy who is going to give it a go on Sunday because his team … Read More »
Watch the highlight films of Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh. Eliminate the stupid penalties and yes yje Ravens are capable of defeating anyone including Jimmy Irsay and the gutless* Indy Colts. Fans in Indianapolis are up in arms over the seeming forfeiture of the game to the Jets on Sunday. How can you lose your unbeaten streak with the MVP sitting on the bench. This will come back to haunt them. All the Ravens have to do is defeat the Raiders … Read More »
